Shards In The Wire

1.
I’ve always heard those stones Falling into the abyss beneath my home This once trusted foundation Ruptured An unearthed base From below A tumultuous convulsion Rapturous clamor Rhythmic expulsion Convex pulsation Tumulus tectonics Subduction’s machination From below Support is no longer sustainable These fault mechanics Erratic This house of good intentions Sinks into the chasm below

The most sensitive of organs Showing on the surface The easiest to touch, to taste The most susceptible to outside harm To cause this yearning, longing, anguish In demand, within reach Immersion in lust and regret and shame Soon begins the loathing As it glistens, breathes It haunts, it deceives Then comes the grip, the piercing rust It recoils, then shudders no more Before entering its new state Remove all others from within, dispose of them Yet this one we polish, amend, cover the wound Set it on display For the onlookers wrapped in the same shell And the need arises again in yet another vessel

Where will we go? In which way will we go? Where will we go? Which way do we go? Which way will send us home? Which way will we proceed? In which way will we see? Which way do we go? In which way do we find our way home? Where do we go? Where will we end up? Which way do we go?

You keep searching for answers from your savior Did I or Us or We invent these tales you keep reviewing? Immersed you’ve become to this emergent behavior This lesson by its end will surely be your undoing This moral compass, surrounded by magnets The inner me continually setting up the next phase A deceased right-versus-wrong gauge inundated with maggots Only attracting more flies of time in these repeating days Magnetized by those magma eyes Just sit back and watch him again materialize Unsure of what, if anything, to believe Onward we navigate into this vortex of lies Despite whatever you hypothesized it’s been me all along Every line, every time, I still have you fucking fooled Having been in the planning for far too long Never will you return to a place where truth ruled

This foundation in ruins This delicate balance dismantled A once thriving grid Now smoldering in shambles Sorting through the carnage Exposing lines once buried Further clarity is gained Of the burden that is carried A shallow epicenter Yields decimation unfathomable Every square inch visible Now left uninhabitable With these factors in alignment They are bound to conspire In this razed infrastructure There are shards in the wire

about

GRIDFAILURE’s Shards In The Wire sees the frequently collaborator-strewn endeavor void of contributors, with creator David Brenner delivering a discordant and unstable solo performance. Fueled by post-industrial beats and unconventional percussion, tense and grating layers of synth, keys, bass, guitars, and more smolder in harsh noise and drone tinted in mournful horror score persuasion, while deconstructive powerelectronics and elements of nature swirl in the ether.

Wrought with layers of the expected GRIDFAILURE’s vocal savagery, lyrically and thematically, the songs on Shards In The Wire express nothing but dejection and loss. Duality mirrors physical actions and occurrences with inner, mental torment in “Upheaval Of The optimism” and “Shards In The Wire,” a sociopathic ire for humanity is manifested in “Skin Is An Organ” and “Corpse Refurbishment,” one purposely wanders into the wilderness with no way or hope of returning in “Panic Azimuth,” a deceitful split personality drama unfolds in “There Never Was An Aaron” – inspired the apex of the film Primal Fear – with “I Lure Dig Far” embodying a play on the project’s moniker itself.

While not the most experimental, apocalyptic, conceptual, or extreme material of the of the vast GRIDFAILURE arsenal, Shards In The Wire is another thematically cohesive excursion into the underworld of music, delivering a primal and charring undertaking.
